Why I keep taking photos...

I am not what I would call a professional photographer...yet. I have a day job. I still feel like I have SO much to learn. When I look at other photographer's work, I confess I get discouraged and feel like giving up. But I love it, so I keep at it. And, every so often, I get shots like these...

And I feel like the whole professional photographer thing might not be so far off, after all.

LaFleur Photography is now Red Photography

Do not be alarmed. You did not arrive here by mistake. LaFleur Photography is now Red Photography!

Why the name change, you may ask? Well, there are several reasons which I won't bore you with. Suffice it to say, I think the name is just more "me" and let's leave it at that. :)

I hope you enjoy this blog as much as you enjoyed the previous one...and I hope you come back again real soon to check out my most recent photography fun!

Honorable Mention

So, there's this lady, her name is Ree. She lives in the country and has a lodge and cooks delicious things and takes fabulous pictures and is basically the most witty and wonderful person I've ever not met in real life. She also has long, red hair. And, she has one of the most popular blog-sites around. Seriously. She's amazing.

Anyway, I love her and read her blog(s) every day. I comment on many of her posts and enter pretty much every one of her contests and give-a-ways...and I never win, ever. EVER. Its sad.

Last week, Ree gave us a photo assignment. The mission was: post fabulous textured photos to her flickr page and she would post the ones she liked on her blog. I don't use textures too often, but I posted the few I had, sure I'd be passed over like always. (picture a big frowny face, here) But, guess what...I wasn't past over. One of my photos was posted...and Ree called it "delicious".

And then...I died. But I got better.

You can see the post including my pic, here.

Yves

This post isn't about highlighting a recent photography job or providing a sneak peek for one of my friends or clients. It is about me, missing my friend Yves. Yesterday was his birthday and he spent it away from his friends and family, probably mostly alone, probably mostly in silence. Since I was thinking of him, and feeling nostalgic, I looked through some photos I took of him and our friend, Regina several months ago. Then I played around with them a bit in my photo-editing software and now I'm posting them here. I call them the Yves' b-day remix photos.

I hope you enjoy them. :)

My favorite subjects

I love taking pictures. Period. But, I didn't start to love taking pictures until I started taking pictures of people I love. Namely, these three little pieces of my heart...

Carter & Liam

My friends, and sisters-in-law, had baby boys around the same time. I had so much fun snapping some photos of these cute cousins.
